Where has the time gone this year? It feels like we have only been in school for a month instead of four! This year has flown by. We have been learning so many new ideas and making friendships that will last.
During October we learned lots of new ideas. We read Stellaluna and learned how bats can use echolocation to find their food. We discussed how big or little bats can be and even saw pictures of the largest bat in the world. In math we started working on telling time to the nearest 5 minutes.
We learned lots of new ideas in October and our learning hasn't stopped now that it is November. This month we read Turk and Runt. We discussed how adjectives are words that describe nouns. We were able to pick out adjectives to describe Turk and some that described Runt also. We started working on Inferences in our reading. In math we are still working on telling time and also counting money. We also have started working on 2 digit addition and subtraction with and without regrouping. Our month has been jammed packed with new learning.
One of my favorite homework assignments we do each year is Help Hide Tom Turkey! Students were sent home with a turkey to hide. In the book Turk and Runt, Runt helps hide the turkeys from becoming Thanksgiving meals by hiding as a snowman. Students were given instructions about how they could help Tom Turkey hide. When the turkeys came into the class, there were so many wonderful hidden turkeys. Students did a great job on the assignment!
